The numbers of government and non-government organizations act in the Vavuniya District to develop the district. In that view, PALM is a non-government organization which has significant impact in the developmental intervention. Social Cohesion and Reconciliation is one of the interventions of PALM, which was started in January 2021 with funding supports of USAID and technical support of Global Community. Social mobilization and implementation components of the project are handled by PALM.

 This SCORE project is being implemented in two Divisional Secretariat Divisions Such as Vavuniya South and Vavuniya Town, which covers three Grama Niladhari Divisions Called Chekkadipulavu, Agbopura and Maruthammadu. This project covered 14 Villages based on the Divisions. Objective of this project is to build the peaceful community in the multi ethnic Society. The project closely linked with the Government Stakeholders such as, Divisional Secretary, National Integration Promotion Assistant of Vavuniya District, National Integration officer of Vavuniya South, Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Reconciliation officers (Sports and Cultural officers) and Girama Niladhari of each selected GN.

Intervention of Social Cohesion and Reconciliation Activity (SCORE)

The Output progress of the SCORE project was beginning from Fist milestone. The project achieved the goals as the milestone base. The following progress were achieved through the SCORE project such as, Conduct Sensitization workshop prior to inter-ethnic dialogue in GN and Village vise, capacity building workshops for the re-formed and other CESs in all three GNDs, one-day inter-ethnic dialogue program, Support and implementing the community-driven activities. The project achieved much populations through the following interventions. 

  1. Identified the target groups through transact work with village map.
  2. Contacted the Project Sensitization program in village level and GN level
  3. Reformed the 5 Co-Existent Societies (CES) called Agbopura – Orunila CES & Samagi, Chekkaddipulavu – Chekkaddipulavu CES and Maruthammadu – Visaaka CES & Nuwanesa CES.
  4. Conducted the Capacity Building programs in each GN.
  5. Conducted One Day Inter –Ethnic Dialogue program
  6. Awareness Campaign Program Such as:
